CORBOND®, the Climate Isolation System

In today’s competitive building/development market, designing and building a unique style of home or commercial project is not enough to guarantee project success. Customers in all climates also demand a level of perfection in the comfort, efficiency and longevity of the structure once they move in. With the help of CORBOND®, you can now achieve all of these, simply, with one product. The CORBOND® Climate Isolation System insulation technology is unequaled in today’s market.

CORBOND® is an insulating, spray-in-place polyurethane foam. This type of material has been used for years in thermos bottles, refrigerators, commercial freezers and coolers, but it took a company like Corbond Corporation to research and develop ways that polyurethane can be used effectively in the insulation of homes and commercial buildings.

CORBOND® provides the ultimate in insulation performance:

1. Extremely high R-value.

2. Air infiltration and intrusion control.

3. Moisture control in building cavities.

4. Air convection control.

In other words, CORBOND® provides effective isolation of both indoor and outdoor climates.

CORBOND® insulation has the highest performance R-Factor achievable for an insulation product on today’s market. This innovative product isolates the indoor and outdoor climates apart, stopping air movement, controlling moisture condensation and movement within walls and roof cavities, and the occurance of dangerous mold. Unparalleled in its proprietary formulation, it outperforms glass fiber batting in severe conditions, R for R in all categories of heat loss (or gain)*. The end result is that you build an energy efficient structure for your clients, providing them with a cost-effective and simple solution to runaway heating and cooling expenses.

There are other advantages for you, the architect, builder, developer or building owner. Because CORBOND® is a self-hardening spray-on insulation, it has unique characteristics in that it cannot shrink nor settle and is integrally attached into the cavity. You can also have full design and construction flexibility because a 2x4 wall will provide super efficient insulation performance, which means that you are not constrained by excessive wall or roof thickness requirements. Additionally, cathedral ceilings and roofs with CORBOND® require no venting.

This high performance insulation and climate isolator also enables you to build stronger structures. Because of its ability to fully adhere to the structure, forming a solid bun between studs, the building becomes extremely stiff and strong. The concept is much like completely gluing every piece of the house or building frame together. Along with the natural sealing characteristics of CORBOND® comes an added benefit of noise reduction. It helps to block exterior sounds such as automobiles, wind, airplanes and any other outside disturbances, giving you a remarkably quiet building.

CORBOND must be installed by professionals. The two component ingredients are pumped out of a proportioner, into a hose, then sprayed into the wall cavity. It applies in a warm liquid state followed by an expansion phase. It then begins to solidify and finally the product hardens to its solid form. This all happens within a matter of 5 to 7 seconds. The unique, trademarked lavender color of CORBOND makes it easily distinguishable from all other insulation products.
